Serero (31) was a near-ever-present for Al Jazira during the 2020/21 Arabian Gulf League campaign and played a starring role for the Abu Dhabi-based side as they narrowly pipped rivals Baniyas to the domestic title.
The South Africa international featured in all but one league match throughout the season and his performances were recognised by both the league and his club when he was named as the division's Best Foreign Midfielder and his team's Best Foreign Player.
