Moon, 24, has signed a deal until the end of the 2024 Allsvenskan season from DStv Premiership side Stellenbosch FC for an undisclosed fee.
It marks nearly two years since he went on trial at Scottish Premier League side Hibernian after leaving Kaizer Chiefs and after finally getting his European breakthrough, he acknowledged the Cape Winelands club for their role in his progression.
"I'm very excited that it's finally happened there's been a lot of complications due to Covid but glad it's finally done," Moon tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"I would like to give God all the praise and glory for this opportunity given to me. I must also thank [CEO] Rob Bernadie and the entire Stellenbosch FC for allowing the transfer to go through and for giving me this opportunity.
"I'm excited for what's ahead, I'd like to help Varbergs continue to grow, they have a nice and young squad and a very good coach. Personally, I want to score lots of goals and continue to improve and take my game to another level."
Persson admits the signing of Moon is something that's brought excitement to the club as he offers technical qualities they lacked during their debut season in the Swedish top-flight.
"Ryan is a player that our foreign scout followed and worked to fit in the physical game here. He is a fast and strong player who is good even in the air game with good physique and resilience inside the box," Persson said.
"A player who was previously trained by Stuart Baxter and who we hope will flourish in Sweden with his qualities in the deep-lying game that we may have missed."
Moon now follows in the footsteps of his older brother Bryce who played for Greek giants Panathinaikos and PAOK between 2008 and 2010.
