‘Arab league will improve Nkota’

Playing in the Saudi Arabian league will elevate Mohau Nkota's game and ultimately benefit South Africa, according to a former Orlando Pirates striker.

The 20-year-old Nkota has left Pirates to join Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ettifaq after signing a three-year deal.

He will now be teammates with former Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum.

"I'm happy for Mohau Nkota. These young players need to go out there and make money," affirms Bruce Ramokadi.

"As a player, you're striving to progress and reach higher levels in your career. You can’t remain in one place forever.

"Football has its own share of luck. For instance, who would have thought that Maimane Phiri would move overseas after just one appearance in the PSL? Scouts were not even there to watch him – they were there for someone else. Sometimes, regardless of how talented you are, you need a bit of luck.

"Nkota has moved to a strong league. We saw how well Al Hilal performed in the FIFA Club World Cup, even beating Manchester City – something I didn't expect.

"He has joined a great country that is constantly looking to improve its football standards.

"Nkota will face top players there, which will provide him with valuable learning experiences that I believe will further enhance his game," concludes the 1995 CAF Champions League winner.
