Kodisang breaks silence on Downs exit

Kobamelo Kodisang has broken his silence over his move to AVS Futebol SAD from Mamelodi Sundowns.

In July 2024, Kodisang joined Sundowns from Portuguese side Moreirense on a five-year contract.

However, the attacker struggled to secure regular game time, making 13 appearances and registering two goals and two assists in his debut campaign at Chloorkop.

To add to his woes, Kodisang was not included in coach Miguel Cardoso’s plans for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

This week, the 25-year-old completed a return to Portugal, joining AVS Futebol on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Now set to compete in the Portuguese top flight this season, Kodisang told AVS Futebol’s official website: "It’s good to be here and to return to Portugal.

"Honestly, it feels like I never left. I’ve joined an excellent club and now I’ll try to give my best for AFS.

"The league is very competitive and not easy. We always have to give our best, and we can’t make predictions about match results or the final standings. We must give everything and try to finish as high as possible on the table,” he added.

"I’m someone who always tries to give my best, both in attack and defence. I don’t like to disappoint the fans. If they come to support and encourage us, we have to give our all for them.

"That I can promise – I will give my maximum in every match. I hope that will be enough to make the fans happy. I’m a good professional.

"The most important thing is always to give your best. If I do that, I help the team. And if the team improves, we’re all happy. In the team, there are no ‘I’s – we are a collective that must function together."
