The final tallies for the 2022 Ballon d'Or have been revealed with veteran South African journalist and commentator Mark Gleeson among the 100 selected to cast their vote.
Last week, Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema was crowned as the world's best footballer after walking away with the Ballon d'Or at the annual ceremony organised by France Football in Paris.

Per the results released by the French publication, Benzema won by a landslide of 346 points ahead of Senegal and Liverpool (now Bayern Munich) forward Sadio Mané, which is the second biggest winning margin in the award's history.
A remarkable 97 of the world's 100 chosen journalists voted for the 34-year-old to win this year's gong, including South Africa's Mark Gleeson whose accurate selection of Benzema, Mané and Kevin De Bruyne all ended on the podium.
The only countries who voted for other winners were Egypt, who elected to go with Salah, Senegal, who picked Mané, and Slovenia, who backed De Bruyne for the coveted award.
Meanwhile, Gleeson, who voted as a representative of Reuters, also named Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah and Real Madrid and Brazil ace Vinícius Jr. as his fourth and fifth picks, respectively.
