GOLAZO: Campbell impresses Brugge coach

Club Brugge coach Nicky Hayen had special praise for Shandre Campbell's impact off the bench as he scored the winning goal in their Belgian Pro League opener.

The South African winger was introduced in the 83rd minute and went on to snatch the winning goal with an impressive strike from distance in second-half stoppage time.

After spending last season with the B team, Campbell has now made a great start to life in the first team by getting his first senior goal.

"There was more depth, movement, and forward play. Yet, you didn't really feel like anything was going to come of it," Hayen said, as per the club's official website.

"We opted for Campbell because he has an individual touch in his legs. He kicks the ball in fantastically."

Brugge defender Brandon Mechele claims everybody is aware of Campbell's ability to shoot from distance.

"We were lucky that Campbell's shot deflected a bit, but we know from training that he has that kind of leg," he added.

"This is a good win, but we have to keep working."

"We still need to work on the inaccuracies, the tempo needs to be a bit higher, but our game is improving."
