Latest update provided on Tau return to fitness

Al Ahly have provided a fresh injury update on Percy Tau after the Bafana Bafana star was once again absent during the Egyptian giants' CAF Champions League win over US Monastir.

The record 10-time African champions advanced to the group stage of the CAF Champions League on Saturday after recording a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate victory over US Monastir in their Second Qualifying Round encounter.

There was, however, no sign of South Africa international Percy Tau, who has been sidelined since August, as he remained absent from the matchday squad despite the club confirming that he had returned to taking part in group exercises last week.

A subsequent update has since been provided by the club in which it has been revealed that the 28-year-old has now returned to full training after recovering from his latest injury setback.

"Percy Tau, the club's first football team midfielder, participated in the team's full team training after the end of the qualifying program during the last period," the club said in a statement on Sunday.

"Tau joined the group training with the rest of the players, after recovering from the injury that kept him away."

Tau's return comes as a timely boost for Al Ahly who are set to get their domestic Egyptian Premier League campaign underway on Wednesday when they take on Ismaily in Alexandria.
