Richard Ofori tips off Bafana Bafana, Thulani Hlatshwayo about Sao Tome

Bafana Bafana have been given a tip-off by Richard Ofori on what to expect when they face Sao Tome and Principe for the first time tonight.

South Africa's road to the 2021 African Cup of Nations takes a tricky turn in Durban today as they host little-known Sao Tome, who are ranked 182 in the world.

Bafana are in the same group with Ghana, who are currently leading after winning all three of their matches so far, including a 1-0 win over the Sao Tomeans last year.

Team captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has emphasised the importance of collecting six points to ensure they stay in touch with the Black Stars, whose goalkeeper Ofori has warned his Orlando Pirates teammate not to expect easy games.

"Without a doubt these two games are important to us, not only for the players but as a country we have to make sure we get six points," Tyson told the media ahead of the first match at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

"They won't be an easy opponent but with our weather and playing at home we hope we can take full advantage of it.

"Obviously we can't underestimate Sao Tome. We've been busy analysing them and talking to Ofori, he has told me that they are not a bad team."

'Tyson' says the camp in Durban has been successful and everyone including the new faces in coach Molefi Ntseki's squad understands what is needed.

"For sure, the core of the team is still the same as the one that was in Egypt last year. As much as we have youngsters from the under-23, they've been there in the setup," he added.

"We know one another. We just need to focus and remind ourselves tactically because we work differently in our clubs, but in the national team we are one.

"So the mood in the camp has been good, we have all the players we need at the moment and we know what is required from us."
