Hlompho Kekana opens up on Bafana Bafana future

Kekana is still going strong at Sundowns after turning 36 in May this year, although he has not featured for the national side since the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kekana's Sundowns teammate Denis Onyango recently hung up his boots for Uganda, but Kekana says he would honour a future call-up for Bafana.

"Ja, Denis Onyango did retire. Even when I started playing football, I never copied anybody to be honest. It was just people who inspired me to do the business in the football game," Kekana said.

"The things I do always come from the heart. I always say 'I play football for joy and satisfaction and the things I will keep doing is to get satisfaction out of it.

"For me I wouldn't say I am done now. I have contract still to honour at Mamelodi Sundowns. If I get opportunity to play for Bafana Bafana, it will be nice thing to do and will always go to the National team."

Kekana is currently engaged in pre-season training with undowns at the University of Pretoria High Performance Centre in preparation for the new season.
