Bafana Bafana climb two places in latest FIFA World Ranking

South Africa have climbed up the table in the latest FIFA World Ranking following Bafana Bafana's COSAFA Cup triumph last month.

The senior men's national team emerged triumphant at the regional international competition last month after defeating guest nation Senegal in the showpiece final at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

As a result, South Africa has moved up by two places in the latest FIFA World Ranking and now occupies 73rd spot in the global standings, which ranks the country 13th among neighbours on the African continent.

Since May, when the previous rankings were released, Bafana Bafana have embarked on a seven-match unbeaten streak that includes six wins and a draw, and which culminated in the nation's COSAFA Cup triumph.

Elsewhere, Senegal has retained their status as Africa's highest-ranked team after climbing one place to 21st in the rankings, while Belgium are still regarded as the best team in the world, despite failing to lift the UEFA European Championship title last month.
