Kaizer Chiefs recorded their first win of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership after recording a comprehensive 3-0 win over Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Having suffered a 1-0 reversal to Royal AM in their season-opener last weekend, the Amakhosi made their intentions clear from the start when Ashley Du Preez opened the scoring within the opening four minutes of the encounter.
Du Preez, who arrived as a big-name signing from Stellenbosch FC in the off-season, latched on to the ball in the box before scoring his first goal for the club with a curling right-footed effort.
Chiefs doubled their lead 20 minutes later when Keagan Dolly, wearing the captain's armband, capitalised from a defensive error before another Chiefs star opened his account late in the second half.
This time it was highly-rated academy graduate Mduduzi Shabalala, on as a substitute, who found the back of the net in just his second appearance for the club, completing a well-worked move in the 95th-minute of the tie.
