Toure family divided

Brother Kolo Toure’s Liverpool side were in the pound seats until their slip-up against Chelsea last week, allowing Yaya’s City to take the advantage with just two League fixtures remaining.

And the battle at the top of the standings has stretched the loyalties within the Toure family.

"Oh yes, it's been really difficult. You can't imagine how difficult," Yaya Toure said of the tension within the family.

"Your family have to try to be balanced -- they are divided. Sport is unbelievable in that it can break hearts.

"If it is my brother who wins it I would still be happy for him. It would be amazing for him, but whatever I'm doing I always try to win -- I've always been the same. I will only lose if someone is better than us.

"But it's still so tight. Liverpool still have a chance and so do Chelsea -- they beat us twice, don't forget. It's going to be exciting."

Toure however did say that his family have been supportive of both Ivorian internationals.

"The family don't want to choose a side,” he said. “We don't know how it will end. They just say 'the best team will win it'. They know that both teams have the quality to do it so let's wait and see."

With their superior goals difference, Manchester City will win this year’s Premier League should they win their last two matches against Aston Villa and West Ham, yet Yaya feels it won’t be easy.

“We need to be sharp. We need to be ready,” said the 30-year-old.

“We need to be well prepared for these games and not make it so close as last time, but we cannot just think we will finish on top.

“Premier League games are always tight, always difficult.”
