Legendary Steve Crowley will always be more remembered for what he did at Bafana Bafana than what he achieved at Kaizer Chiefs.
Though Crowley has never won a league title in his football career, he won BP Top 8 with both Wits University FC and Kaizer Chiefs.
Crowley left Wits for Chiefs back in the 90's when Amakhosi used to dominate the transfer market, but the team's performance in the field of play was more or less the same as the current one.
Chiefs paid R200 000 for the then Bafana first-choice goalkeeper after beating arch rivals Orlando Pirates to his signature.
"As you know I was at Wits at the time, and they were known as a top-eight team, and not challenging for any honours," Crowley tells snl24.com/kickoff as he reflects.
"Then there was an opportunity to join a bigger club in terms of fan base. Pirates were interested as well, but my preference was to go to Chiefs.
"The career could have been longer I think at Kaizer Chiefs, but it's a big club and they expect results, as they do at Sundowns and Pirates.
"I think Kaizer Motaung was at a re-building phase at the time, and they had to find the right players in the squad to win things. I think it took many, many years after I left the club and many players left when they started seeing success."

Crowley further recalls how he was spotted as a youngster prior to making it into the professional ranks.
"I was playing for Arcadia [Shepherds] – an amateur team at the time, and we played a pre-season friendly against the Wits professional team. Terry Paine was the coach and he signed me," he reveals.
"But as you know, the salaries were small so we had to have day jobs [Ed note: Crowley was doing accounting and finance]. You couldn't save money because there was no money in the game like there it is today. So it was difficult."
Today, the former goalkeeper, who retired back in 1999, is happily married to a therapist, with whom he shares two sons – 33 and 29 years old.
"I'm in Johannesburg, I continued with my career in financial management after football."
