Following the great 2014/15 season he had in Naturena as he went on to scoop the KickOff Footballer of the Season award, Mashamaite broke the hearts of many Amakhosi faithful when it was revealed he would not return to the club the following season.
Though Chiefs will always have a special place in his heart, Mashamaite says he does not regret the decision he took.
"No, I don't regret leaving Chiefs, it was my time to grow," 'Masha' tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"There were other things that I wanted to do when I went to the US. I wanted to look into other matters besides just football. But obviously, that deal didn't materialize.
"In life, you always have to restructure, come up with little plans around, and I went to Sweden and had a beautiful experience living outside of South Africa for the first time in my life.
"It was a great personal development. So yeah, it was about personal goals but supporters still love me, they always remind me of my time at Chiefs.
"To be part of that great team's historical events is something that I will always cherish."
