Pitso backs DStv Prem coach to win CAF Champions League

Decorated Al-Ahli Saudi coach Pitso Mosimane has thrown his support behind experienced SuperSport United tactician Gavin Hunt to win the CAF Champions League.

Of course, Mosimane's endorsement is not a light one, the 58-year-old is a three-time winner of the continental competition having lifted the coveted trophy once with Mamelodi Sundowns and twice with Al Ahly before taking the helm at Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.

Matsatsantsa are in second place and although there are still seven games to play and continental positions are still up for grabs, Mosimane has alluded that he believes Hunt and SuperSport can keep their spot in the top four until the end of the season and qualify for the Champions League.

Not only that, but Mosimane has also backed Hunt to go and win the prestigious trophy.

"Thanks @gavinhunt12, off-season I will host you for lunch and plan for CAF Champions League," Mosimane wrote to Hunt via Twitter.

"I know you can win it, why not? You have been in this tournament [for] many years and you understand it well. Just a courtesy lunch and a catch-up meeting also."

Mosimane was responding to a congratulatory message from Hunt following the former Sundowns and Bafana coach being awarded the Coach of the Month award in the Saudi First Division League for the month of February.

Al-Ahli sit just one point behind log-leaders Al-Hazm and have lost once in their last five league matches.
