Bafana striker reveals lessons learned from deadly Erling Haaland

Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster has opened up on the recent experience of facing Premier League side Manchester City and the lessons picked up from superstar City striker Erling Haaland.

Burnley were eliminated from the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage on Saturday by defending Premier League champions Manchester City, who outclassed the Clarets 6-0 to book a seat in the semi-finals.

Foster played 45 minutes in the fixture and revealed that he's picked up some valuable lessons from the Premier League's top scorer.

"To score goals," the 22-year-old striker responded when I asked what he learned from Haaland.

"That's all I see him [Haaland] do, but yeah his movement, just the way he positions himself – it's crazy how every rebound comes to him.

"Some people might think it's luck but if he does it so often you have to think it's intentional and I think it has to do with his movement. So yeah [I learnt about] his movement and scoring goals."

Haaland is rated among the best strikers in the world and leads the the Premier League's goal scorers' list with 28 league goals under his belt this season. Behind him are Tottenham's Harry Kane (21) and Brentford's Ivan Tony (16).

With a 13-point lead at the top of the EFL Championship, Foster could be playing against the likes of Haaland more often next season.

The Soweto-born striker has so far made 11 appearances for Vincent Kompany's Burnley, contributing one goal and one assist so far. For now, though, Foster's attention is with Bafana Bafana as the national team puts in the final preparations for a crucial Afcon fixture against Liberia on Friday.
