Mngqithi: 'Safranko has goals in him'

Safranko was on target as Sundowns beat Marumo Gallants by 4-0 in the DStv Premiership in Polokwane on Sunday.

The 26-year-old-striker has now scored two goals since joining the Brazilians during the off-season, including a goal in the MTN8 against Golden Arrows in Durban.

Mngqithi has since praised Safranko's work ethic upfront for Mamelodi Sundowns and says he is quickly getting back his fitness levels.

"We believe he has got goals in him," Mngqithi said post-match.

"He is still going to help us.

"He is gaining confidence. In the first half, he created a very good moment for Neo Maema that could have been easily a good assist.

"When on the outside, he took two defenders out and was able to charge in and put in a cut-back but, unfortunately, Neo could not convert and hit the upright.

"We are very happy with the progress he is making in the team, and for a player like him, it's not only about scoring but also the work ethic. He makes sure that he helps us in our defensive strategies and defensive schemes, and he is very important in that space.

"We know on set pieces he is a big factor both offensively and defensively.

"Now we think he is really getting into full fitness, and in no time, we will start reaping the rewards from it," Mngqithi added.
