It looked as though Maritzburg's 100 percent record in the Absa Premiership would be stretched to three games when their former midfielder Michael Morton, now on the opposite side, gifted them an own goal in the 79th minute, but Cavin Johnson's men showed that they do not give up easily.
With two minutes remaining on the clock, ex-Thanda Royal Zulu striker Mhlengi Cele came up with the goods, scoring a late equaliser to ensure Usuthu did not lose at home.
Usuthu, however, will see the result as two dropped points because this game was played at home. If they are going to survive this season, AmaZulu need to make sure that they collect as many points as possible in their backyard.
