Kaizer Chiefs chase for Yusuf Maart latest

Maart has moved from being out of the plans at Orlando Pirates two years ago to finding his footing in the PSL and attracting the interest of Chiefs.

After winning promotion with Sekhukhune last season, he has then been able to pile up 28 appearances while scoring three goals playing in central midfield.

AmaKhosi head coach Arthur Zwane and his assistant Dillon Sheppard are convinced he fits the profile for the kind of number six that they need at Naturena.

Zwane has been vocal about the club's need for a number six who will play the ball instead of piling cards and losing the ball.

Chiefs have already released Kearyn Baccus and placed Teddy Akumu on transfer – two players who have filled the central midfield slot and need further reinforcements considering that Njabulo Ngcobo will now move back to central defence.

Sekhukhune have placed their price tag on the Maart believed to be R10 million and have so far stuck by it despite Chiefs not offering half their evaluation yet.

Maart – who turns 27 next month – is said to be keen on the move as he will be handed a vastly improved package and enhance his opportunities of establishing himself in the Bafana Bafana squad.

AmaKhosi have already knocked on the Sekhukhune door without success so far, but the prospect of a transfer could still happen.

The Soweto giants are not keen on paying huge transfers but offer one of the best packages in the league.
