Thwihli Thwahla fell behind by two early goals scored by Deon Hotto and Kwame Peprah for Pirates, but the hosts rallied to get two late goals from Thabo Matlaba and Mfundo Thikazi to secure a point.
"Ja, you're absolutely right [we did not have a good start] but same time apart from goals they scored possession-wise we were in charge of the ball," Maduka told SuperSport TV.
"We were in control of the ball although you understand in the final third we never looked dangerous. We kept possession, we had the ball but most of the time we could not test [goalkeeper Richard] Ofori.
"And you need that, when you get in the final third you must be able to finish. We said it again, if we start the game well, we have a chance to win the game because we always finish strongly.
"Unfortunate again we conceded so early, that put us under so much pressure, now we have to work so hard to try to take the game to the opponent," he said.
"Good defence of Pirates, very difficult to penetrate but so proud of the boys, eventually second-half we kept on pushing, we just needed to get that one goal.
"And after we got that goal we knew that at any time we would be able to score because we believe that it takes a second for us to score a goal.
"A game like that you play with a every organised defence you need that brilliant moment to come into existence and exactly that happened where Thabo took a shot," he continued.
"At halftime we said we're getting into the box but we're not taking shots at goal and if you can't take shots at goal you cannot score.
"Because the defence of Pirates were comfortable with that, as long as we play in front of them they were okay but second half after Matlaba got that goal we continued pressing, trying to score.
"We scored that one and managed to score another one, so proud of the boys. It has not been easy, a very difficult season but so proud of the boys.
"These are soldiers, soldiers don't give up they play up to the end of the 90 minutes and they've done it again, I'm so proud of them."
