Gavin Hunt responds to reports of potential Stuart Baxter return to Kaizer Chiefs

Chiefs once again appear to be on a downward trajectory after their 1-1 draw at home to Swallows FC on Wednesday saw them drop to 10th position on the DStv Premiership log table.

Amakhosi have endured a distressing campaign, in which they have gone from title challengers in 2019/20 under Ernst Middendorp to potentially their worst finish in the PSL.

This appears to have caused panic in Naturena, with the club said to be in discussions to have Baxter return for a second spell following the success he enjoyed between 2012 and 2015.

Asked whether the rumours concerns him at all, Hunt, who signed a three-year deal in October last year and could therefore be sacked to make way for the Scottish tactician, has insisted he has no knowledge of the rumours.

"No, I haven't heard a thing [about Baxter]. I'm not on social media anyway, so I don't know what's going on," he responded after dropping two points against Swallows.

Though he has led the team to a historic first ever CAF Champions League quarterfinal, the 56-year-old has recorded just 11 wins, 16 draws and 13 defeats in his 40 games in charge of the Soweto giants thus far.
