The Footballers Union of South Africa has apportioned blame on SAFA and the PSL for what they call 'neglecting players in times of need' when it comes to the resolution of disputes with clubs.
In a statement sent to KickOff.com through the Union's secretary general Taelo Motaung, it would appear the two organisations are failing to carry the orders issued by the Dispute Resolution Chamber [DRC].
The statement reads as follows...
"Subject: We, at Football Union of South Africa (FUSA), write to express our deep concern regarding the systemic delays and inefficiencies plaguing the resolution of player cases within South African football.
"The SAFA Arbitration and PSL DRC processes are marred by unnecessary delays, leaving players vulnerable to exploitation and financial hardship. A glaring example is the Marumo Gallants FC CAF bonuses awards, granted to 11 players by the PSL DRC on October 21, 2024. And the club did not pay as per the oder [sic] of the league. Despite letters requesting deduction from the club's grant, no action has been taken. Players are still waiting even now.
"Furthermore, three additional player cases regarding CAF bonuses remain pending at the PSL DRC, with no clear timeline for resolution. Other files, such as Abram Nqobo's case(referred to on Sebtember [sic] 14, 2023), languish at SAFA Arbitration, gathering dust.
"This culture of delay and disregard for players' rights emboldens clubs to default on salaries, unfair Terminations of contracts unilaterally, and not hounering [sic] their financial obligations.
"As FUSA, we urge SAFA to establish a Players' Status Committee to streamline case resolution and ensure timely, fair outcomes for players.
"We request that SAFA and PSL take immediate action to address these delays as soon as yesterday to ensure that players' rights are protected. We also call on the football community to join us in advocating for urgent reform.
"Together, we can push for meaningful change and safeguard the rights of South African footballers."
