Elias 'Dominguez' Pelembe was on hand to captain Mozambique to victory on Thursday afternoon at the start of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Pelembe turned 40 on Monday and three days later walked out wearing the armband in the 3-2 win away in Botswana as Group G of the qualifiers got underway for the two COSAFA countries.

That win in Francistown was the 102nd cap for Pelembe who provided the assists for the second goal scored by ex-Kaizer Chiefs trialist Stanley Ratifo.
The veteran winger also has his place for the AFCON finals in Cote d'Ivoire early 2024 already secured.
The 3-2 win for the Mambas had Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove putting in a full shift while at the opposite end Thatayaone Ditlhokwe also played 90 minutes.

Pelembe has captained Mozambique since 2015 with his caps count surpassing that of the legendary Manuel 'Tico-Tico' Bucuane.
The exciting winger has played in South Africa from 2007 until this year when he moved back home to join UD Songo.
Just last season (2022/23), Pelembe featured in 29 games for Royal AM with a return of seven goal contributions (three goals and four assists).

Pelembe started out with SuperSport United then moved to Mamelodi Sundowns before spells at BidVest Wits, Polokwane City, and Royal AM.
Mozambique host the Riyad Mahrez led Algeria on Sunday in Maputo.
