Ernst Middendorp confident should Kaizer Chiefs transfer ban be upheld

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has shared his thoughts regarding the recent transfer ban handed down by FIFA's Dispute Resolutions Chamber upon the club.

Chiefs were earlier this week handed a transfer ban of the next two immediate transfer windows following the illegal signing of Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianarimanana.

This came after 'Dax' signed for Amakhosi in July 2018 while said to still be under contract with Madagascan club Fosa Juniors, who lodged a formal complaint with the world football governing body in December 2018.

The club have since confirmed they will appeal the ruling with the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as they allege that the player's signature was forged.

Meanwhile, Middendorp has defended that this is not a matter for him to concern himself about until a final outcome is discussed with Chiefs management, though he believes they do have enough squad depth should the appeal prove unsuccessful.

"I fully agree, it's an office matter. For me, it's nothing to discuss; I haven't really even had a discussion with the administration or management side of Kaizer Chiefs about this," said Middendorp.

"This is something that I'm not busy with at all. If that is the final outcome once everything is on the table then we will find a solution. Basically, we have a qualified PSL squad and setup so far, and most of the players have contracts with a view to the next season.

"We have some good young guys like Happy {Mashiane], Njabulo Blom, [Nkosingiphile] Ngcobo, who we've used already [in the PSL], and there's also four more players in the second division with Swallows, doing the job over there and getting competitive minutes.

"So, I'm not even prepared to make a comment on it. For me, it's not final and the club hasn't informed the statement internally that we have to make provisions, so for me it's not relevant at all.

"As for the players, there's no confusion at all. They know their contract situations and why they are here; they know their direction and that's it. We are not busy thinking about it at all."
