Thatayaone Ditlhokwe took the place of Onismor Bhasera for the home side while returning Chippa coach Dan Malesela recalled the experienced Andile Mbenyane and Frederic Nsabiyumva.
SuperSport came close to going ahead in only the second minute after Mduduzi Sibeko's attempted clearance forced a superb save from goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali to deny the own goal, before the Chippa shot-stopper kept out Ghampani Lungu's acrobatic volley inside the box minutes later.
Chippa offered a better resistance and grew in the game midway into the first stanza but they did not have the momentum to threaten shot-stopper Ronwen Williams, who did not have much to do.
However, with their first threatening entry inside the box, Mbenyane broke the deadlock for Chippa seven minutes before the break with a tap-in from close range after Williams saved Maloisane Mokhele's initial shot at the near post .
Tembo's men had an immediate response after the break as Bradley Grobler levelled matters four minutes into the second stanza with a glancing header inside the box that looped over Mtshali.
SuperSport came very close to grabbing the lead six minutes later after Mbule teed up Lungu with an exquisite through ball at the near post but the Zambian's shot across the face of goal was tipped away from the lurking Thamsanqa Gabuza by Mtshali.
The hosts put Malesela's troops under pressure in the closing stages and Gabuza eventually gave them the lead in the last eight minutes with a glancing header towards the bottom corner from a corner.
However, Chippa were fired up after that and Mokhele snatched a dramatic equaliser three minutes before full-time with a first-time thumping strike from the six-yard box after a cut-back by Bienvenu Eva Nga.
