DStv Premiership match report Chippa United v Baroka 07 May 2022

A late Chippa FC equaliser broke Baroka FC hearts after the sides played to a thrilling 2-2 draw at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

Bemba Sangare partnered Bienvenu Eva Nga in the line-up set out by Chippa, while Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele awarded goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane another start between the sticks after a winning debut on Wednedsday.

The first clear opening came after 16 minutes and it required Chippa goalkeeper Loydt Kazapua to turn Sekela Sithole's promising left-footed free-kick behind for a corner-kick.

Chippa drew a reply six minutes later where Siphesihle Mkhize had a curling strike outside the area deflected away before Nga headed Zuko Mdunyelwa's cross over target.

Vincent Kobola, who now holds the reigns at Bakgaga, was forced to make a change in the remaining three minutes of the half as Richard Mbulu was stretchered off and replaced by Dan Ndlhovu.

The Chilli Boys had to wait for the start of the second half to put on a substitution, as Thokozani Sekotlong replaced Sangare shortly before Nga nodded Siphelele Luthuli's corner over target.

Chippa's decisive instinct came through midway in the second half when Riaan Hanamub ran in left of the area to blast into the roof the net from a tight angle.

Bakgaga fought back and levelled in the last 15 minutes after Ndlhovu beat two challenges and burst into the area from the left to slot the through the legs of Kazapua.

The Limpopo boys turned it around when Decide Chauke showed the Chippa defence a clean pair of heels three minutes after coming on and applied a composed one-on-one finish.

Chippa bombarded Baroka's defensive third and needed a tremendous save from Mabokgwane produce to smother Sammy Seabi's left-footed strike.

The Chilli Boys did level in stoppage time after Sekotlong latched onto a loose pass on the edge of the area to slot home.

Chippa could've collected all the points deep in additional time, but Hanamub side-footed a low cross from the right wide of the mark and saw the points shared.
