Kaizer Chiefs are set to do battle against cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the latest instalment of the DStv Premiership's highly-anticipated Soweto Derby.
The Amakhosi head into the encounter on the back of a 2-1 win over their rivals in the reverse fixture in November and having leapfrogged the Buccaneers in the league standings following last weekend's win over Baroka FC.
Saturday's match will also serve as the 17th time that Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has squared up against Pirates throughout his career and the 68-year-old will be looking to extend his remarkable record against the old enemy.
Across his previous 16 matches against the Bucs, including spells with Chiefs and SuperSport United, Baxter has only tasted defeat on one occasion, with that loss coming with the Glamour Boys in the first leg of the 2013 MTN 8 semi-final.
That record includes a run of 13 matches without defeat since that match and eight wins in total, including Matsantsanta's 6-1 humiliation of Mushin Ertugral's side in November 2016, which at the time equaled Pirates' biggest ever defeat.
Baxter has also never lost away from home to Saturday's hosts and boasts a record of three wins, one of which includes the 2014 MTN 8 final in which Chiefs were the "away team", and five draws on the road.
The former Bafana Bafana coach will have the advantage of fresher legs for the encounter as well as his side head into the match with a full week's rest, whereas the Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids-led Pirates must first contend with Cape Town City on Wednesday.
Should they win that match, the Buccanneers will climb back above Chiefs into third position in the league standings, although Baxter's charges will have three matches in hand over their bitter rivals.
Kick-off for Saturday's Soweto Derby is scheduled for 15:30.
