AmaZulu midfielder Joseph Malongoane says there will be nothing personal when he goes up against his former club, Platinum Stars,

The skillful 24-year-old, who joined Usuthu from Dikwena on a loan-deal during the January transfer window, says his main focus is helping his current club in their quest to move away from the relegation zone.

"It's not about showing Stars what they are missing, but it's about football," said Malongoane.

"I have nothing against my former team, I've had my chance to play there but right now I'm concentrating on doing well for AmaZulu.

"The most important thing for me is to see my team winning; it doesn't matter whether it's against Kaizer Chiefs or Platinum Stars or any other team.

"Stars are a good team and they fight as a team but we'll be ready for them and the team which wants it the most will win on Wednesday."

However, Dikwena will have a lot to worry about as Malongoane has scored in each of his last two matches for AmaZulu, the 2-1 Nedbank Cup loss to Tembu Royals and the 2-1 League win over Moroka Swallows.

"I'm getting better game by game," said Malongoane. "I really appreciate being here at AmaZulu and I want to help the team to win by scoring as many goals as I can.

"In football we learn every day; sometimes we watch the most expensive players on TV and that together with hard work at training helps us to improve as players.

"I'm starting to get in the box more and more and I think my composure and finishing has improved as well."

AmaZulu are unbeaten in their last four games, drawing two and winning two, but the speedy midfielder says they still have a lot to do during the remainder of the season to stay clear of the danger zone.

"We all know that AmaZulu don't belong at the bottom of the log so it's a relief for us that we've moved up to 13th place," he said.

"We need to get better, there are many games left to play and we have to continue pushing ourselves until the end of the season."
