Meiring represented almost every team in the PSL during his career including Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows, Manning Rangers, AmaZulu, Golden Arrows and Hellenic.
The 44-year-old sits just outside the all-time top 10 list of greatest PSL-era goalscorers with 79 goals but also scored 11 goals prior to the 1996/97 season having started his career in 1993.
His 90 top-flight career goals means he netted even more times than legends like Katlego Mashego, Surprise Moriri and Patrick Mayo.
Speaking to snl24.com/kickoff, the journeyman reveals that his attitude was among the reasons he could not stay at one club for too long.
"I was getting tired by structures and I was vocal because in South Africa there's still that apartheid mentality that you must be 'yes sir' to succeed," Meiring recalls.
"I remember playing for a certain team which I can't mention. We lost or drew a game in the last minutes and our coach that time came to the dressing room and told us a lot of crap and then punished us hard.
"I was against that. I felt it was not fair, especially as we were about to play another important match in a few days.
"The other players started joining me, but the worst part was the coach then picked on the colour of our skin. It didn't end well, so I had to leave."
Meiring retired from professional football in 2012 at the age of 36 after playing for Jomo Cosmos. He also played for Platinum Stars, Cape Town Spurs and earned two Bafana Bafana caps.
