DStv Prem club makes coaching change ahead of Chiefs clash

Polokwane City have stepped up to make another coaching addition as they seek to strengthen their technical team through the poor run of form experienced after the departure of Lehlohonolo Seema and Duncan Lechesa.

Polokwane – who are without a win in the last five games – currently have Phuti Mohafe as the man in charge at training since the departure of their co-coaches Seema and Lechesa.

Lechesa led the team to promotion before working as a co-coach with Seema once the team was in the DStv Premiership.

However, Lechesa then left in October and opted to join Venda FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship while Seema has since taken over at Sekhukhune United.

With a thin technical team led by Mohafe, Polokwane have added Brice Aka to work as an assistant coach specifically fine tuning their attacking line.

Aka has spent the past decade at Cosmos where he has worked as team manager and assistant coach since he retired five years ago.

The 40-year-old Ivorian arrived in South Africa in 2008 and played for Maritzburg United, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bay United, African Warriors before he arrived at Cosmos in 2013.

"I gave him the greenlight to go to Polokwane because we are a club that gives opportunities," says Jomo Sono, the Cosmos boss.

"With us, he also worked as the team manager but what is important is that we wish him the best of luck where he has gone," says Sono.

Polokwane play Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
