New Downs signing: It was a dream for me...

Fawaaz Basadien has opened up on his move to Mamelodi Sundowns and reflected on his debut as his new team annihilated Richards Bay FC in a one-sided MTN8 quarterfinal match.

Sundowns bulldozed their way to the semi-finals of the MTN8 with a 4-0 hammering of Richards Bay at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, thanks to an Iqraam Rayners brace, Simphiwe Mcineka own goal and a final nail in the coffin by Siyabonga Mabena.

Basadien, who recently joined the defending champions on a big-money deal, made his debut on the day coming off the bench.

Speaking to Sundowns' media after the match, the 28-year-old admitted that he had to wait for a while to make the giant leap.

"It's an honour and a privilege to make my debut for such a club as Mamelodi Sundowns," revealed the Bafana Bafana international.

"How I looked forward to it. And once I got in the field, all the players made me feel comfortable. They just wanted me to get the touch of the ball and to get comfortable on the ball. But it was just a dream debut for me.

"I couldn't wait for it. I've been looking to make this debut, and fortunately for me, it happened today. I enjoyed every single minute of it.

"I enjoyed it.

"Obviously, maybe want to get a bit more minutes, but for now it's good to just get some touches on the ball and get playing with the guys.

"So, for me, I think the target is to play regularly, help the team, obviously achieve more, and win more trophies.

"But my main thing is just to help the team, and by helping the team, I mean maybe getting assists, keeping clean sheets, trying to reach the team's objectives and hopefully win titles as well," added Basadien, before sending a message to the Yellow Nation.

"I just want to say thank you to all the supporters coming out today. I mean it, I was looking forward to playing in front of them, and they made me feel welcome since I came here, and it's just a joy and an honour to play for such a team with such incredible supporters.

"I just want to thank them again for coming out, and we appreciate them."

Basadien and Co. will kick-start the defence of their Betway Premiership title with a clash against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium on Saturday.
