Mamelodi Sundowns missed the chance to close the gap behind Al Ahly in the Africa club rankings while Orlando Pirates held off competition from newly-crowned CAF Confederation Cup champions, RS Berkane.
Even though Sundowns are in the CAF Champions League final at the expense of The Red Devils, the Tshwane giants still have work to depose the outgoing and record champions off their number one spot in the Africa club rankings.
The Brazilians almost took a 1-0 lead and win ahead of the second leg of the Champions League final against Pyramids but they were pegged back, after the Egyptian side found the equaliser in added time, to leave the tie poised on one goal apiece.

Sundowns remained second in the rankings by FootballDatabase, which are updated on a weekly basis.
Masandawana had a chance to reduce the gap behind The Red Devils, who have not been in action for two weeks. Instead, the Tshwane giants trail Al Ahly by 52 points, currently on 1658 points.
Rivals for the newly-designed CAF Champions League trophy, Pyramids also remained fourth in the Africa club rankings, 41 points behind Sundowns.
The other South African representative in this season's Champions League, Orlando Pirates, were in domestic action over the weekend, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by AmaZulu.
After dropping out of the top ten, however, Pirates remained in 11th spot on the continent and has accumulated enough points to hold off newly-crowned CAF Confederation Cup Champions RS Berkane, who jumped up to 12th, following their 1-1 draw with Simba in the final second-leg on Sunday, where they won 3-1 on aggregate.

Even though Berkane won their third CAF Confederation Cup title, they only revived their fortunes in the rankings this season, gaining on average 210 points this term.
The Buccaneers also saw an exponential rise in the rankings under former coach Jose Riveiro, with an average of 146 points gained in one year.
In spite of reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final, South African coach Fadlu Davids' Simba are ranked 59th in Africa, with a year average drop of 16 points, compared to the previous season, after Wekundu Wa Msimbazi missed out on the CAF Champions League for the first time in six years.
