Pirates star explains what went wrong in shock Gallants defeat

Midfielder Sihle Nduli has explained what went wrong for Orlando Pirates in their shock defeat to Marumo Gallants, which makes the Buccaneers the first team to suffer two consecutive losses this season.

The Soweto giants' start to the season went from bad to worse as an added-time strike from Jaisen Clifford sealed a win for Gallants after Patrick Maswanganyi had cancelled out Daniel Msendami's opener at Dr Molemela Stadium.

The defeat makes it two defeats from two league matches after they had already lost to Sekhukhune United on Saturday.

Speaking to Pirates media after the match. Nduli was honest about what had gone wrong for his side.

"I think we started the game well," the tough-tackling midfielder said, via the club's media department.

"We were able to create many scoring chances, but we only scored one. I think we should have finished the game in the first half and made things easy for ourselves.

"I think as the gents we ruined it ourselves, we gave away the three points because we created everything, then we conceded goals even small children wouldn't [concede]."

The loss leaves Pirates in 14th place on the Betway Premiership after two league matches.

They, however, turn their attention to the MTN8 with the monumental task of overcoming Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg quarter-finals of the MTN8.

The clash will be played at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
