Sundowns star advised

A former club captain has offered a word of advice to want-away star Thapelo Maseko and Mamelodi Sundowns following reports of a fallout.

The speedy Bafana Bafana star is understood to be seeking a move away from the Brazilians after not playing a single match last season, and the same pattern is expected to continue in the new season.

In a heartfelt message posted on the social media platform Instagram, Maseko revealed that his love for the sport is fading, presumably over the lack of game time.

Sundowns have reportedly declined multiple offers for Maseko, both on loan and permanent, but the 21-year-old has bizarrely not made the matchday squad for either of Sundowns' three opening matches of the season.

Speaking on SoccerZone on Monday evening, Hlompho Kekana expressed concern that the situation would only worsen and advised that Maseko, the two parties go their separate ways.

"When you see a player showing his frustration on the socials, that tells you that he doesn’t want to be at that camp," said the former Downs captain Kekana, on Soccerzone.

"And it’ll be wise if the two parties sit and discuss that and maybe come into an agreement to say, 'we shake hands, you go your way, I’ll go my way'.

"Because if you see a player in that state of mind, I don’t think he can now play for you in the next season."
