Ex-Chiefs star offers Mofokeng advice if he stays at Pirates

Former Orlando Pirates forward Mohau Nkota's move to Saudi Arabia has added a new dimension in Relebohile Mofokeng's career at the Soweto giants.

Pirates on one hand, are receiving pressure from the supporters, that Mofokeng, who has made a bigger impact over a longer period of time, deserves also to get an overseas move.

On the other hand, the Sharpeville-born attacker could also feel emotionally, that the timing could be perfect for him to leave in the current transfer window, after his peer got a dream transfer to Saudi Arabia Pro League club Ettifaq Club.

Ahead of the 2025/25 season, focus will switch on to the emotional state of Mofokeng, if he does not move abroad, in spite of multiple reports that he is in demand in Europe, North Africa, United States and recently Saudi Arabia.

Michael Nkambule, who broke through the professional ranks in France, before moving to Kaizer Chiefs, has advised the 20-year-old on how to handle himself should he remain at Pirates amidst Nkota's exit.

"For Rele, I think he needs to continue doing his work the way he has been doing, the years still allow him, it's not like it was his last season or something, he still has a big chance, he can still play another 15 years to 20 years. He just just needs to relax and play football," Nkambule said on Junior Khanye TV YouTube Channel.

"If you check the profile of Rele and Nkota, it's not the same. Rele's profile is stronger than Nkota, that's why I think it won't affect him that much because Nkota has left, but if you check he's going where, Saudi Arabia, it's not like he went to Europe in top five leagues.

"Rele is a star player and the face of Orlando Pirates now and for him to leave it won't be easy because for Nkota (Ettifaq) to negotiate with Dr. Khoza was maybe easy, but for Rele, he's going to want a lot of money. He's special that boy," Nkambule added.
