Riveiro critical of Bucs players after Sekhukhune loss

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro claims they were disorganised and lacked ideas in their 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday.

It’s back-to-back defeats for the Buccaneers, who not so long ago were on a nine-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Riveiro dismissed the notion that it was a game of two halves but rather a game before the goal and one after the decisive goal was scored.

“No, I don’t think so, I think it was a game before the goal and a game after the goal perhaps. The game under control, I think the goal was close for us, it looked like the goal was coming in a corner-kick, in a situation under control and they managed to get the lead and after that we didn’t react well. We were really disorganised, playing with not much ideas,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

“I think – maybe I’m wrong but I think the keeper one save in the first half. We didn’t manage to have shots on target or not enough.

“So, that’s why the 1-0, I think the game was coming for us before the goal, but after the goal we didn’t play good enough to deserve the equaliser."

The consecutive defeats has not rattled the camp of the Soweto giants who take on fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

Defender Nkosinathi Sibisi won’t be available after he was red-carded against Sekhukhune, but the coach believes they have able quality to replace him.

“You right he’s not there, but there’s somebody who is going to be there," he added.

"We going to play with eleven, we have very good players ready to go so we going to miss Sibisi like everybody else but somebody will be ready to fill the space, we will be ready for Saturday."
