Jele: 'I want to go back to Pirates'

Former captain Happy Jele has pledged his loyalty to Orlando Pirates by admitting he is keen to return to his former club.

Jele is currently a free agent after parting ways with DStv Premiership side Royal AM at the end of the 2022/23 season.

'Ma Gents' featured for a Pirates legends side in a Soweto derby exhibition match of past stars against Kaizer Chiefs at the Pumas Stadium on Saturday.

Other legends who featured in the match included Brian Baloyi, Benedict Vilakazi, Tlou Segolela, Simphiwe Tshabala, Josta Dladla, Mandla Masango, and Innocent Mdledle.

"I would love to go back and be part of the team," Jele said.

"They have done so much for me.

"I think I can guide the emerging players and pass on my knowledge to them.

"I think my experience can help the team to grow as well.

"When I left the team, they said to me I can go and complete a season or two, and then when I am ready, come back.

"So, when I hang up my boots, I will go back to them, and if the position is still available go back and be part of Orlando Pirates," he added.

Jele spent 16 years at Orlando Pirates since joining the club as a teenager in 2006 from Walter Stars.
