Bad news for Pirates' beard man

Orlando Pirates are facing another major setback as a key player has suffered an injury that may keep him out of action for the rest of the season.

Bucs made it the perfect send-off for departing head coach Jose Riveiro with a 3-0 hammering of Golden Arrows on Tuesday at Orlando Stadium.

However, the side's bad injury fortunes have seemingly stuck like glue as midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula became the latest casualty.

He had to be substituted in the second half and was in visible discomfort whilst helped off the field. At full-time, the veteran was spotted in a moon boot, signalling that the injury is likely to be more than a minor knock and could keep him out of action for several weeks.

The Soweto giants have three more matches to play in the Betway Premiership, although they have little to play for, with a second-place finish secured and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in need of a single point to seal the league title on Wednesday.

For the lads now under the guidance of Mandla, albeit temporarily, the remaining matches are TS Galaxy at home, a trip to SuperSport United, before wrapping things up in Durban against AmaZulu FC.

Pirates ae still without defenders Olisa Ndah and Thabiso Sesane, due to injury.
