CAF Cocomelons League!

There remains a consolation for Orlando Pirates' exit in the CAF Champions League, as Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota made a name for themselves in the tournament's scoring charts.

Pirates could not get past the final hurdle before the  Champions League final, after a 3-2 defeat on aggregate to Pyramids FCin the semis.

However, what the side can take home with, most certainly, is that Mofokeng and Nkota have come of age in the continent's toughest and biggest club tournament.

In his debut campaign, the ambidextrous forward has scored four goals, while his peer, 'President Yama-2000' has netted a remarkable five.

From a South African context, such scoring feats should indicate a bright future for the 20-year-olds, especially comparing with the current greats at rival club Mamelodi Sundowns, who have been consistently reaching the latter stages of the competition over the years.

The difficulty of scoring goals in the tournament is shown by the fact that only once has Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile scored more than four goals in a single season in the Champions League.

He scored six in 2022/23.

The Namibian, who is the all-time leading scorer of any striker or player that has played in the PSL in the Champions League with 19 goals, has only managed to score three goals in each of four campaigns, while his lowest return was one goal in the 2023/24 season.

Even Themba Zwane, who has a remarkable 15 goals (although over 11 seasons) in the Champions League, has only managed to score at least four goals or above in a single term once, when he netted five in 2018/19.

One of Sundowns' trusted attackers, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, has only scored two goals so far in the tournament and has five goals across two campaigns, after scoring three goals last time out.
