Mzansi football great Mlungisi 'Professor' Ngubane, who knows all too well about the pressures associated with jersey number 10 having worn it at Durban Bush Bucks in his heyday, has chipped in on Jomo Sono's comments directed at Patrick Maswanganyi.
Sono, himself regarded as one of the greatest to have graced local soccer fields, recently told the media, during the announcement of Jomo Cosmos' new sponsorship partnership with Lucas Batteries, that him being compared to the youngsters was "like comparing an ant to an elephant".
No prizes for guessing.
The number 10 jersey has been retired at Pirates in honour of the club's former playmaker, but some of the club's fans have made their voices heard loud and clear in demanding for it to be handed to the new poster boy, Maswanganyi.

Ngubane, who played in the Sono era, says no Bucs player has been able to emulate the 'Black Prince', as the Cosmos chairman was and still is fondly known.
"Those who are saying the number 10 should be given to Tito, it's clear they have never seen Jomo play," says Ngubane, in conversation wit KickOff.
"Tito is a good player, but he is nowhere near Mjomana. He shouldn't be compared to Mjomana. He will never reach that level.
"Mjomana brought excitement in every game he played. Pirates have not yet found a jersey number 10. Mjomana, he was always busy. Every time he had the ball, there would be trouble. Maswanganyi, sometimes his efforts don't produce an end product.
"Defenders were scared of Mjomana. He was brilliant with step-overs. Sometimes three defenders would be assigned to Mjomana, but still, he'd dribble all of them and find his way out," he adds.
'Prof' continues to share the difference he has seen in Maswanganyi's game compared to that of Sono back in the day.
"Mjomana never fought with opponents or teammates once he was on the pitch. When you tried to fight him, he just laughed at you. So, they must forget about replacing Mjomana.
"Jomo was exceptional, but that's not the case with Maswanganyi... there are a lot of players like him.
"For example Relebohile Mofokeng, what this teenager is doing is not normal. Just like Mjomana, who, at the age of 17, was already dribbling [Herman] 'Pele' Blaschke. So, like Jomo, Mofokeng is bringing in new things to our football.
"Maswanganyi is talented, but Mofokeng is gifted. No coach can claim to have taught Mofokeng how to play football. To him, football is a gift from God.

"But still, no one has been able to play like Mjomana. I used to wear jersey number 10, so I know what I'm saying," says the former Maritzburg United coach.
As a parting shot, Ngubane was asked about what qualities a player wearing the iconic jersey number should possess.
"A jersey number 10 should be able to create something out of nothing. His performances lift everybody. As a number 10, you win games for your team.
"A jersey number 10 is not somebody ordinary but someone extraordinary. So Maswanganyi is not extraordinary, though he is talented. But as for the young boy Mofokeng, he is extraordinary, he is gifted."
