BREAKING: Pirates confirm Bafana star's exit

Orlando Pirates have confirmed a major decision regarding the future of striker Zakhele Lepasa ahead of the new season.

The Buccaneers confirmed via social media platforms on Friday morning that the 28-year-old striker had parted ways with the Soweto giants.

In truth, the exit of the striker had been written on the wall as he was not part of the squad that travelled to Spain for the club's pre-season camp. Lepasa was further listed as 'unattached' in Molefi Ntseki's final CHAN squad.

'Young lion' leaves the Buccaneers with 64 senior appearances to his name, during which he scored 15 goals and registered two assists.

The Buccaneers' development product also had a loan spell at TS Galaxy, where he helped the Rockets seal a memorable Nedbank Cup victory. He also spent a brief loan spell at SuperSport United.

The Bafana Bafana striker is not expected to be short of options, with Durban City and  Sekhukhune United among those believed to be monitoring Lepasa's situation.

Pirates begin their 25/26 campaign with an MTN8 quarter-final against Polokwane City on Saturday, 2 August at Orlando Stadium.
