Nathan Sinkala living a PSL dream at Stellenbosch FC

The acquisition of two new signings at the end of the January transfer window has spirits high in the Stellies camp as they prepare to face Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup last 32.

Decorated Africa Cup of Nations champion Sinkala signed for Stellenbosch on a free transfer from DR Congo club TP Mazembe when it was thought the Zambian would better suit a bigger club.

"I believe I can contribute towards helping this club stay in the Absa Premiership this season and go on to do much more in the next," said 28-year-old Sinkala.

"I have always wanted to play in the Absa Premiership, it's been a dream of mine. This is a new chapter and I am excited."

The Winelands club lost midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu to Orlando Pirates but gained another former Champions League winner in Asavela Mbekile in return.

"I like what I have seen and I just can't wait to settle at my new club," said Mbekile after he moved from Pirates to Stellies on deadline day.

Ahead of the Nedbank Cup clash at Athlone Stadium on Friday (20h00) fans will be hoping to catch a glimpse of the two new signings.

Sinkala still awaits his work permit, but coach Steve Barker confirms that if it does arrive before Friday he will be included in the squad.

"The quicker we get them integrated into the team the better for us and there's no better opportunity than a cup fixture," said Barker.

"So we will try to give the opportunity to them and one or two other players that have shown that they deserve an opportunity to play."
