Happy Jele says Orlando Pirates hunger for trophies are back

Orlando Pirates' six-year trophy drought was ended after they lifted the MTN8 cup earlier this season, and skipper Happy Jele says the hunger for more is evident in the squad.

Pirates will begin their quest for a second trophy this season when they host Uthongathi FC at Orlando Stadium for a Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash this afternoon (15h00).

This is a trophy the club last won in 2014, when they beat Bidvest Wits 3-1 in the final under then interim coach Eric Tinkler, which preceded their long wait for another piece of silverware.

Their MTN8 success with head coach Josef Zinnbauer back in December has since wet their appetite for more, and Jele says they have every belief that they can add to their cabinet this season.

"I think the trophy has brought more hunger into the team. Each and everyone in the team knows it's very possible now to challenge for each and every trophy that comes along," Jele told reporters.

"The coach has made us believe as well, so the hunger is there and everyone is putting effort each and everyday to continue to win trophies for the team. I think the hunger is back for each and everyone."
