Doctor, Jerry take over Ke Yona team

The Nedbank Ke Yona Team have replaced Shakes Mashaba with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates legends Doctor Khumalo and Jerry Sikhosana.   The duo will work alongside Mashaba's former right-hand man Khabo Zondo. Mashaba and Zondo have been part of the talent search programme since its inception in 2013.   Asked for a comment on why Mashaba was overlooked this time around, Nedbank's sponsorship manager for football Tutu Ntuli referred this website to PR and communications manager Keenan Klizanie, who could not provide proper answers.   "We need some time to get back to you about that," Klizanie told snl24.com/kickoff.   "You need to allow us some reasonable amount of time to make a response to you. We'll get back to you sometime early next week."   In his recent statement about Khumalo and Sikhosana being part of the Nedbank Ke Yona technical team, Ntuli said: "We are delighted to have three respected figures in South African football leading KYTS this year.    "Nedbank is a long-time investor in the future of football in South Africa and we are proud to bring star quality and decades of football experience and guidance to players. These individuals will be of great benefit to the youngsters.    "It is a dream of many of these young players to work with coaches who have truly seen it all in their careers and played at the very highest level."   Khumalo has 50 caps as a Bafana Bafana player and has coaching badges obtained through the South African Football Association, English Football Association and German Football Federation.   Sikhosana will always be remembered for the goal he scored against ASEC Abidjan in The Buccaneers' African Champions Cup triumph in 1995, as well as for discovering top talents like Thabo Matlaba and Teko Modise.   On Saturday the Nedbank Ke Yona talent search will be at Thohoyandou Stadium. The trials kicked off in East London last weekend.
