Siphiwe Tshabalala's business manager Jazzman Mahlakgane has explained his client's role in this year's MTN8 tournament.
On Monday the PSL together with top-eight cup sponsors MTN launched the 2020 MTN8 Wafa Wafa, with 'Shabba' among the ambassadors.
Tshabalala has been without a club since he terminated his contract with Turkish outfit Erzurumspor last year and lately has been linked with a few clubs including Kaizer Chiefs.
As an MTN8 ambassador, Tshabalala will be required to travel around the country promoting the tournament.
But Mahlakgane says this does not mean the ex- Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana star has retired from playing the game.
"No he's not retired, they've just asked him because he is available to do these kinds of things," Mahlakgane tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"They asked him to do this launch thing. Remember, this MTN8 thing is no longer like before where these guys had to appear what-what. Nowadays things are done virtually so they can do whatever they need to do.
"They can always use his images, even if he's not there physically. He is there because they asked for him and I said yes he is available."
Asked about the latest on Shabba's club search, Mahlakgane says they are looking to finalise something this week.
"It's coming well. We are finalising by the end of the week ja."
