Sundowns failed to advance to the MTN8 final after losing 4-2 on penalties to Cape Town City at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
“It was a good game, we should have wrapped it up earlier. Don’t have to wait for penalties. You have to take your chances,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV.
Kekana was taken off at halftime and Mosimane revealed that some of his players were carrying knocks.
“It’s not only him[Hlompho Kekana] Ali Meza also played limping. Langa [Langerman] also had a tight hamstring. We just didn’t have the legs for the second half,” he said.
Mosimane went on to say that it’s not the first time that they are knocked of a cup competition on penalties and it’s all part of the game and a learning curve.
“It’s a lottery, we practiced them. We selected the way it has gone in practice. It’s part of the game and congratulations to them. They hung in there. Benni deserves it. Why not? I hope he wins it for his first cup.
“It’s better to play the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and being knocked out than not being part of this. It’s a learning curve the team grows, the team develops. It’s lessons learned, it’s not the first time we lose on penalties it’s part of the game,” he concluded.
