Mamelodi Sundowns ace Teko Modise gears up for MTN8 final with Bidvest Wits

Modise will be the colours of a rampaging Mamelodi Sundowns who are up against an equally capable Bidvest Wits for this tie that plays out at Mbombela Stadium (17h00).

For stability at the back Sundowns will have Denis Onyango, Wayne Arendse and Thabo Nthethe with Modise keen for his share of game-time in a midfield that has Hlompho Kekana, Keagan Dolly, Tiyani Mabunda and an attack that features Khama Billiat, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Anthony Laffor, Percy Tau and Yannick Zakri.

Wits will also feel at home with Moeneeb Josephs or Darren Keet providing a safe pair of hands between the posts, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Buhle Mkhwanazi at the rear, Thabang Monare keen to be boss in central midfield, Daine Klate, Elias Pelembe on the wings as they seek to ‘bless’ Hellings Mhango, Cuthbert Malajila and Eleazar Rodgers upfront.

That list of names – especially in attack – will definitely have fans licking their lips.

Being a midfielder who enjoys touches on the ball himself the eagerness to get going in this match is written all over his face.

“I mean to play games where not everyone is sure about who will win on Saturday is what makes the game exciting. You are playing against a good team, that is what you want as a player and that is what the supporters also want. If I was a fan, remember I am a fan of this game before I stand as a footballer, these are the kind of games that I want to watch. So I am glad that we are playing against a good side and come Saturday people are going to enjoy a good game,” says Modise.

Though not guaranteed of a starting place, Modise will definitely be called into action at some time during the game regardless of whether Pitso Mosimane wants to lock the result by cooling down the game should they be leading, or get creative options in case they need a goal.
