Khama Billiat leads Soweto Derby combined most valuable XI

Kaizer Chiefs star forward Khama Billiat may be the most expensive player in this weekend's Soweto Derby, but Orlando Pirates dominate the combined most valuable XI.

Chiefs and Pirates are set to clash in one of the biggest fixtures of the season on Saturday when they compete in the first leg of their MTN8 semi-final showdown.

The two sides' rivalry stretches back 50 years, with this set to be their first ever encounter behind closed doors, but that takes little away from the fanfare surrounding the Soweto giants.

As far as a combined XI goes, based on value, there is no doubt that some stars are bigger than others, and transfermarkt.com suggest the Buccaneers have the edge ahead of the upcoming Derby edition.

Though his place is under threat by Daniel Akpeyi, Khune remains more valuable and would slot into goals at a cost of R15.2-million.

The defence is an even-split with Innocent Maela and Thulani Hlatshwayo pairing with Daniel Cardoso and Ramahlwe Mphahlele in a back four.

Pirates, meanwhile, completely own the midfield with new signing Thabang Monare, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Fortune Makaringe, Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch all making the cut in a 4-5-1 formation.

Up front is place for none other than Billiat, who holds a whopping R28.6-million price tag over his services despite his drop in form in the past year, according to the international statistics publication.
