In what will be Baxter's second game in charge since making his official return to the club in the CAF Champions League final defeat to Al Ahly - they face last season's DStv Premiership champions for a mouth-watering contest.
After beefing up the squad during the off-season following a two-window FIFA transfer ban along with a new-look technical team, the 2021/22 campaign starts with major optimism for Amakhosi.
But they will have to make do with a few of their regulars, Baxter confirmed ahead of the game: "In terms of the injuries, we've got a couple of them getting back, Lebo Manyama did his first training the other day.
"We've got the ones that are injured long-term, [Leonardo] Castro, [Dumisani] Zuma. Lebo Manyama was one of them who did his first training with the team, proper football training.
"It doesn't mean he's fit, but just fit to take part in training for the process to get himself match fit now."
The former Bafana Bafana boss also cast doubt on whether the likes of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Reeve Frosler will start the game as they look to manage their fitness after taking part at the recent Tokyo Olympics.
"We've got a couple of others who've come back but were at the Olympics, they've got to slowly get back in things," Baxter added. "So we do have our injuries but at the same time, we have the players who've been taking part in training.
"Those are probably going to select the team from because we know they have enough training in their legs, enough rest and enough structural training. I can't see any huge surprises that you see someone playing that you haven't seen in three or four months."
