Gaston Sirino: Nande Becker expecting assault sentence next week

The PSL DC has provided an update on the sentence for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Gaston Sirino, who has been found guilty of assault.

The League today announced an eight-match ban for Bidvest Wits duo Ricardo Goss and Sameehg Doutie after they were found guilty of abusing a match official during a recent game against Cape Town City.

Sirino is yet to receive his punishment from the PSL Disciplinary Committee after being found guilty of assault against SuperSport United pair Clayton Daniels and Dean Furman during the MTN8 back in September.

PSL prosecutor Nande Becker is confident the Sirino matter will be concluded next week.

"We are hoping the matter will be finalised next week."

If Sirino receives a suspension as expected he could miss very tricky upcoming fixtures for Sundowns including two games against Highlands Park away – one in the Nedbank Cup and one in the league.

Also coming up are tough fixtures against Orlando Pirates at home, Maritzburg United away, as well as a massive showdown with Kaizer Chiefs scheduled for 15 April.
